Amelia Dasbach Moore was born to Henry Christopher and Maria Christiana (Schaller) Dasbach. Both her parents were born in Germany and had emigrated to the United States as teens, settling in Quincy, Illinois where Amelia and their other children were born.

In the 1870 census, Amelia is listed with her parents and siblings as (perhaps incorrectly), "Emily." Her father is listed as a "Tinware Merchant" from "Prussia," her mother from "Waldeck" (part of Germany.)

In the 1880 census, there is no Amelia, but there is an "Annie" nearly the same age as who we later know as "Amelia." (However, this is the same enumerator who recorded her nephew Alexander's name as "Ellick." The family was on the last page of this enumerator's work.)

On 19 June 1889, Amelia Dasbach wed Eugene G. Moore in Quincy, Illinois. It appears he had first wed her younger sister Emma H Dasbach (born 1863), on 12 September 1883 in the same county.

I believe Emily, Annie, and Amelia are the same person. Perhaps nicknames, or middle names, at times were what she went by. Or, perhaps in one case, a clerical error. It was also common for Germans of this era to have as many as four first names. Since she is in most documents Amelia, that is what I will use here.

Back to Mr and Mrs Eugene Moore. In the 1900 census, they rented a home at 822 1/2 York Street, in Quincy. Amelia's younger brother, 25 year old Walter Dasbach, was living with the couple. In the 1908 Quincy city directory, they are listed as Eugene E Moore, and Amelia M Moore, of 822 1/2 York. His profession is listed as Engineer.

In the 1910 census, Margaret Starks, Amelia's sister's (Caroline Dasbach Starks') child, was living with the couple, who was now renting at 934 Kentucky Street in Quincy, Illinois. "Only" the couple lived at their 934 Kentucky address in Quincy, in the 1920 census.

Eugene's occupation is listed as Engineer in the 1900 census, Engineer in the 1908 city directory listing, and in the 1910 and 1920 censuses as Engineer at a Paper Mill or Stationery company. The 1920 city directory for Quincy Illinois lists Eugene Moore as working for the American Paper Mill.

Eugene Moore (1852 - 1920) was the son of William T. Moore. Eugene's parents were both from Kentucky, USA.

Eugene died age 69, and Amelia died age 80. Amelia is buried in Woodland cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Quincy, Illinois.

Amelia Dasbach Moore's official obituary states that she was one of twenty-four who died during a heat wave. She died of "heat prostration" at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois, after collapsing in her home.
