Charlie was first married to Jessie Millard. Together they had one child, Ronnie. Charlie and Jessie were divorced about 1936, but Charlie and Ronnie still maintained a close relationship. Charlie married Mabel Maud (Pat) Rindfleish in 1945, and they remained together until his death in 1984.
