William A. Shirk, 82, of Kingman Rt. 2, died at 2:45 p.m. Friday (April 12, 1963) in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville where he had been a patient two weeks.
Mr. Shirk was hospitalized for burns received when his clothes caught fire while burning a fence row at his home March 28. Born Jan. 6, 1881 near Tangier, he was the son of David and Harriet Sangster Shirk. He was married June 5, 1904, to Vera Cartwright and she survives.
Other survivors include a son, Paul Shirk of South Bend; a daughter, Mrs. Nina Belle Pritchett of Kingman Rt. 1; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Waterman Baptist Church of Lodi, Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Dean Hartman officiated with burial in Silver Island Cemetery.
