He was a carpenter and had the military rank of sargeant. He married (1st) 14 May 1667, Sarah Clough, daughter of John and Jane Clough of Salisbury. (John Clough and wife Jane were passengers on the "Elizabeth" from London in 1635.) Sarah Clough was born 28 Jun 1646 in Salisbury and died there 18 Mar 1705/06."
