Ann Armstrong,daughter of William and Fanny Armstrong,was born at Albany,Whiteside county,Illinois,December 29,1849,and died at the home of her daughter,Mrs. C. C. Hurlbut,in Seattle,Washington,October 26,1939,at the age of 89 years,nine months and 26 days.
In March,1867,she was united in marriage to William H. Moody,and to this union eight children were born,two of whom died in childhood. In their early married life they united with the Canoe Creek Congregational church,transferring their membership later to the Zuma Methodist church in Rock Island county,Illinois.
In the fall of 1879,they moved to Custer county,and located on a homestead four miles southeast of Westerville,where she endured the hardships of a pioneer wife and mother.Here they were two of the charter members of the Methodist class of the Methodist Episcopal church of Westerville,Nebraska.
Her husband preceded her in death,July 22,1906.After his death she moved to Ansley,Nebraska,where she lived for many years.About eight years ago she moved to San Pedro,California,where she made her home until two years ago,when she went to Seattle,Washington.
Surviving her are five daughters;Mrs. Albert Lanphear of San Pedro,Calif.;Mrs William Donahoo of Vienna,Ill.;Mrs. Jere Pearsall of Wenatchee,Wash.;Mrs. C. C. Hurlbut of Seattle,Wash.;Mrs. Elizabeth Terry of Spokane,Wash.;and one son,Oliver H. Moody of Scottsbluff,Nebr.;fifteen grandchildren;seventeen great grandchildren;and three great great grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday morning at 10:30 from the Westerville Methodist church,Rev. Edward G. Whaley,pastor, had charge of the service.Burial was in the Westerville cemetery.Pallbearers were John Mills,George Davis,A.N. Grierson,Ralph Cannon,Fred Crawford and J.D......
