Tribute to a father
Editor, St. Joseph News-Press June 14, 1992
Since Father's day is next Sunday, I offer a short memorial for a man who was an important infulence in my life.
His name is Ruby "Rube' Peasley, When he was 27, he married my mother who was divorced and a mother of three, ages seven, nine and 11. It was during the Great Depression and we did not have many material things, but he did provide a home and food on the table. Most important of all, he kept us together as a family. He was a fine person as well as a good "father." He is gone now, but we who were his "children," will not forget him. We are proud to refer to him as our Dad. His sister, Cordelia Golder, is the only one of his immediate family now living. She is 96. On behalf of my two brothers and myself, I would like to say "Thanks" to him and all other really good Dads everywhere. Dorthy Hayter Ratliff St. Joseph.

What a beautiful tribue. Better said than any obituary could be. The three children he raised and loved were Earl, Roy and Dorothy. They are all linked to their mother Lillian's memorial.

Ruby went by the nick name Rube he was killed in a auto accident in Texas.
