Actress, Civil Rights Activist. Born in North Carolina, ne of five daughter's of a Episcopal minister, she was school teacher in Indiana and a close friend to actress Rosetta LeNoire of the television show "Family Matters" and Esther Rolle of the television show "Good Times". Known as her actress name of Montrose Hagins, she starred or was a featured actress in popular television shows such as: Seinfeld, Roc, 227, The Golden Girls, Sister, Sister, The Hughleys, The Jamie Foxx Show, What's Happening Now, The Sinbad Show, The Famous Jett Jackson. She also became the replacement for Rosetta LeNoire as Leola Henderson-Forbes in the final season on Amen. Her television credits also include more guest spots on shows such as: E/R, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, Hunter, Malcolm & Eddie, and Moesha. Montrose was known to play parts that often portrayed church ladies, grandmothers, and kind-hearted neighbors. She was also a board member for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Montrose was a staunch liberal Democrat and African American Rights Activist. Montrose has two daughters and one grandchild. She retired from acting in 2005 and lived happily in her home in California. She died at the age of 95.
