Leander Mae ("Annie or Ann") Bruner and William Watson ("Dock") Whitfield were married in the year 1858 in Marianna, Jackson County, Florida. Grandpa Whitfield died after getting to Knoxville, Tennessee in 1862 during The War Between the States.

Ann remarried 15 Dec 1878 in Jackson County, Florida to a man named William Kirkland born about 1842 in South Carolina, of whom little is known. William died in Florida. His father was born in Georgia, and his mother in South Carolina. They did have a son named Jim (perhaps James) born in 1880.

I left an iris for you, Grandmother Ann, like some of the ones you're bound to have seen growing at your son's (Grandpa Cebren Whitfield) lovely home on his place in Texas. I know you visited your sons in Texas.

Ann died sometime after 1907 in Florida, near Campbellton according to family historical legend. (Information provided by GG Granddaughter, Nancy Yankie.)
