She married Ernie Behnke on Nov. 23, 1939 in Reedsville. Elsie was a cook at the Manitowoc Health Care Center for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion, the Ladies Aide and the Brillion St. Citizens.
Survivors include her children: William (Ruth) Behnke of Manitowoc; Wilmer (Dixie) Behnke and Deanna (Randy) Brandes, all of Brillion; nine grandchildren:
David (Brenda) Behnke of Shoto; Laurel (Michael) Sickinger, Daniel (Colinda) Behnke, Paul Behnke and special friend, Donna, and Mark Behnke, all of Manitowoc; Robert (Karen) Behnke, Dale Behnke, and Michael Brandes, all of Brillion; and Angela (Daniel) Wiese of Greenleaf; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister: Esther Behnke of Brillion; and a sister-in-law: Elaine Behnke of Reedsville. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Leonhardt Behnke; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ralph Behnke, Richard Behnke, Effie Behnke, and Eddie and Rosina Behnke.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 601 E. National Ave., Brillion. The Rev. Ross Henzi will officiate. Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery, Reedsville. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. The Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion, is assisting the family with arrangements."
