Napoleon B. HARDISTY, son of Richard and Sarah HARDISTY, was born in Jackson Township, February 9, 1859, and departed this life July 6, 1942, at his home in the Tanner community in Center Township at the age of 83 years, four months and 27 days. He was united in marriage to Margaret Jane COLLINS. To this union the following children were born: Mamie, Swift, Alga, Alice, Clara, Simon, Herschel, Festus, Inez and Lexie, the following children, Alga, Alice, Simon and Herschel, having preceded him in death. Years of toiling, sorrowing and rejoicing they spent together, until the Master called his companion in 1910. He being used to a comfortable, well-organized home, found life burdensome without a companion and helpmate, and was united in marriage to Mrs. Alice FULLER, May 12, 1917. They have walked life's pathway, living for each other and their children. He was kind and whole-hearted, and many can testify to his kindness and his sharing with others, his material things of life. He was a father, indeed to his six stepchildren, Sabra, Ruth, Roxie, Paul, George and Troy. Troy was only nine years old and never knew the difference. He was a real father to him. He was a member of the Hobbieville Masonic and Odd Fellows lodges. Mr. HARDISTY served one term as trustee and assessor of Center Township, a good and substantial citizen, reliable and honest in the fullest sense of the word. He had been in failing health for some time, but death came suddenly, at the close of day, while he sat reading the paper. Only a slight sound and he slipped away. His life book here on earth closed. He leaves to mourn his going the true and faithful companion, the six children, Mrs. Mamie HORD and Swift HARDISTY of Bloomfield, Mrs. Clara PHIPPS, of Jasonville, Mrs. Inez SPINKS, of Linton, Festus of Tanner and Lexie of Bloomington; two sisters, Mrs. Eliza TETTRICK, of Cass, and Mrs. Vange ELGAN, of Lyons; two brothers, Pete HARDISTY, of Marco and Jap HARDISTY, of Nebraska; the step-children, Mrs. Sabra WRIGHT, of Bloomington; Mrs. Ruth COOK, of Bloomfield, Paul and Troy FULLER, of Tanner, Roxie PEARSON, of Georgetown, Illinois, and George FULLER, of Danville, Illinois, a number of grandchildren, relatives and a host of friends.
