"Mrs. Abagail Chapman was born in Tioga county, Pa., Sept. 22, 1840, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. Z. Baird, on Sunday evening, February 4, 1923, age 88 years, 4 months, 13 days. She was united in marriage to Silas H. Chapman at Addison Hill, Steuben county, N. Y., January 10, 1855. They lived in northern Pennsylvania, until 1872, at which time they moved to Winnebago county, Ill., where they lived until 1885. At that time they moved to Milford, Kan., where they have since resided. Mrs. Chapman survived her husband by nearly 17 years. She leaves to mourn their loss, six children, 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. The children are George E. Chapman of Keats, Kan.; Nina A. Baird, Riley, Kan.; Frank M. Chapman, Lander, Wyo.; Mary J. Badger, Milford, Kan.; Charles W. Chapman, Chanute, Kan.; Ira N. Chapman, Manhattan, Kan. A long useful life has been brought to a sudden close, leaving in addition to her immediate relatives a host of friends to mourn her loss. She united with the N. B. church early in life, and at the time of her death was a member of the Congregational church at Milford. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 6, at 1:30 p. m., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. Z. Baird, conducted by Rev. Wood of Keats, Kan. Interment was made in the Milford cemetery."
