Daughter of E.T. Rhodes and Lavinia Jenkins Rhodes. Wife of Joseph Thacker. Mother of Florence Thacker.

Obituary in The Gadsden Times, Friday, March 22, 1929, page 2, Frances Rhodes, 62, died at 3 o'clock Friday morning, following a long illness. Surviving, 2 brothers, J.O. and E.D. Rhodes and 4 sisters, Mrs. J.F. Breeden, Mrs. Irwin Stone, Mrs. Mamie Elam and Mrs. Lon McCoy. Funeral service will be held at Pilgrims Rest 11 o'clock Saturday morning.

Apparently, she was buried in the family plot in Pilgrims Rest, but there has never been a tombstone on any previous cemetery survey. Note that the obituary shows maiden name Rhodes.....but Frances married Joseph L. Thacker on March 9, 1890 Etowah County, AL marriage book "C", page 511A.

UPDATE OCTOBER 2014: Pilgrims Rest Cemetery placed two "Unmarked Graves" monuments inscribed with names of persons buried somewhere within this cemetery without markers. The monuments are near the flag pole in the middle of the old hill. Handmade blocks will be removed since this inscribed monument has been placed in the cemetery.
