Remembered by her Aunt Anna as a pretty baby with golden curls and beloved 'pet' of the home, Ruth was the first of five children born to Charles Moore Allaben and Fanny Myra Jackson Allaben. She was raised at Roscoe where her father was a general practice physician. The family relocated to Binghamton, New York about 1924 where her father was a surgeon. Ruth was a graduate of Binghamton High School at Binghamton and of Northwestern University at Evanston, Illinois and was an accomplished musician. After college, she resided in the home of her brother, a successful doctor and surgeon at New York City. Ruth married to her fourth cousin, Charles Keator Ives, at the home of her parents at Binghamton on 28 November 1937. At the time of her marriage, she was engaged in radio broadcasting at Philadelphia. Ruth and Charles made their home at Roxbury where her husband was a private practice medical doctor. Ruth and Charles were the parents of eight children upon which much attention was paid; their home a popular center for many friends. Ruth was remembered as having a keen sense of humor and gracious manner.
