Sallie Lou Tharp, 88, of Midland passed away on March 24, 2014. Services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 3:00pm at Throckmorton Cemetery in Throckmorton, Texas

Sallie was born on August 28, 1925 to John Wesley and Ora Jane Tharp in Throckmorton, Texas.

Born into a musically talented family, she was an extremely accomplished pianist.

She attended Throckmorton High School before graduating from Arizona State University in 1946.

She worked as an administrator for Mobile Oil Company, before her retirement.

Upon retiring, she worked as a private consultant for many years. She spent her time playing piano, singing with The Sweet Adelines and church choirs.

She loved to travel.

She was an outstanding citizen of Midland, Texas and was a loyal Presbyterian.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Verde Lee Faulkner and Frances Edith (Franke) Tharp, both from Throckmorton, and Evelyn Allen of Phoenix, Arizona and her brother, John Welsey (Jay) Tharp, Jr. of Throckmorton.

She is survived by multiple nieces and nephews.
