Born in Morschheim, Pfalz, Bayern, the fourth of eight children of Johannes and Katharina Elisabeth Angst Schneider, she immigrated with her widowed mother and siblings on the ship Prince Albert to New York, arriving on 1 Dec. 1850. The family came to Chicago about 1851.

She married John C. Klemme about 1851. They are listed in 1880 Federal Census in Lyman Township of Ford County, IL as farmers. They had seven children; six are known to have survived.

John died 1890 in Chicago. Anna died in Nebraska between 1900 and Aug. 1913. Her known children are:
