Thomas Miller was born in East Haddam Connecticut. His parents were Thomas and Ruth Miller. Thomas was a member of the United Empire Loyalists. His group supported England during the American Revolution. After England lost the war many of his group including several of his children immigrated to Canada where they were given land grants from the King based on Loyalty.

Thomas' wife was Mary Fuller. Mary died in Connecticut shortly before the American Revolution.
