Mr. James Harley Austin, Sr., age 82 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Winnfield.


Mr. Austin was born Saturday, September 12, 1931 to the Union of Evan W. Austin and Rhuey Stewart Austin in Dodson, Louisiana.


Mr. Austin was a active member of Zion Hill Baptist Church for 57 years and an ordained deacon for 50+ years. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. Mr. Austin was a dedicated employee of Farr Auto and Supply for 50 years. He loved to hunt, fish, and was an avid gardner. Mr. Austin served his country in the U.S Army during the Korean War.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Brad Jones and Rev. Wallace Ingles officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery near Winnfield, LA.


The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday, March 24, 2014 and on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until time of service at Zion Hill Baptist Church, in Tannehill, Louisiana.
