Mrs. Julia McKee, 78, of 420 East Vandalia street died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Joseph hospital, Alton, where she had been a patient for four days.
She was born Aug. 31, 1878 in Edwardsville and attended Edwardsville schools, graduating from Edwardsville high school in 1897. Her parents were the late Larkin C. and Julia Copeland Keown, pioneer residents of this vicinity. The deceased continued to reside in Edwardsville until her marriage to Ralph E. McKee in St. Louis in 1901. Mr. McKee preceded her in death Jan. 22, 1939 in New York City, after which she returned to Edwardsville to reside.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Eloise Brechin of Bryson City, N.C., and a grandniece, Mrs. Wayne Six, of Chicago. She was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers and one half-sister.
The deceased was a member of the First Presbyterian church and Edwardsville Chapter 667, Order of Eastern Star.
Friends may call at the Weber funeral home until 2 p.m. Tuesday when services will be held, with the Rev. John P. Emig, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. Eastern Star services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
