James Bernard Rizer, 46, past commander of the McVey Post, No. 16, American Legion, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at General Hospital where he had been a patient since Saturday night.

Mr. Rizer, whose home was at 26 Small Ave. was born August 11, 1896 at Haydenville, Ohio, the son of Clifton O. and Loa Green Rizer. He has been employed at Westinghouse and at the time of his death was a group leader of maintenance in the enameling division.

Mr. Rizer was a member of Westinghouse Foreman's Club and the Veteran's Club at the plant. He was a veteran of World War I and besides membership in the McVey Post, belonged to 40 et 8 Society. He was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Mr. Rizer is survived by his wife, Hazel O'Brien Rizer: six daughters, Two brothers; Howard Rizer of Marion and Harry Rizer of Nelsonville, five grandsons and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Memorial at 3 p.m. Friday, in charge of Dr. Paul Carter, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Graveside services will be in charge of the American Legion.

It has been requested by the family that any tokens of remembrance be made to the Mansfield chapter of the American Heart Society.
