Leslie Neel Christensen, age 89, of Murray, Utah passed away October 20, 2015 at the William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home, Salt Lake City, Utah

Neel was born March 16, 1926, in Syracuse, New York. He was the son of Robert Christensen and Velma Lois Davis. He attended schools in Syracuse, Casper, Wyoming, and Seaside High School In Seaside Oregon where he played football. He then enlisted and served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater and China. Neel served aboard Liberty Ships and also as a Military Policeman in China.

After the war he moved to and lived with his parents, brother Richard and sister Marvel in Sandy City, Utah.

On June 18, 1949 he married Eliza Simmons Pedersen, a widow with two sons Harold Pedersen and Thomas Pedersen. In 1950, Neel and Eliza had a daughter, Nancy. The family resided in Murray, Utah where Neel and Eliza lived their entire lifetime.

After WWII Neel worked as a construction welder until 1952, then as an automotive mechanic. He owned and operated his own service station and repair garages until his retirement in 1981. Upon retirement, Neel and Eliza became Snowbirds, spending 23 winters in Yuma, Arizona in their trailer. Neel enjoyed golfing all his active life. Neel and Eliza also enjoyed attending dances in Yuma. Barbeque parties at their home with family and friends brought them pleasure also.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Gordon and Beryl Christensen, two sisters; Dolores Christensen and Marvel Seay, and his dearly loved wife Eliza. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Kluger, Tavernier, FL; two stepsons, Harold Pedersen (Jeneal), Bountiful, Utah; Thomas Pedersen (Jorja) Herriman, Utah; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Christensen (Darlene) of Midvale, Utah.

Graveside service and burial was held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 11:00am at the Riverton, Utah Cemetery, 1500 West 13200 South Riverton, Utah.
