OBITUARY-
ADAMS -- LaVerne Kiefer, 72, of Taopi, died Tuesday (June 1, 1993) at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Taopi.

He was born Dec. 31, 1920, near Taopi, attended Taopi schools, and graduated from Adams High School. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1945. On Sept. 16, 1950, he married Norma Alberts. Mr. Kiefer owned and operated a Standard gas station and later Kiefer Tiling Co., retiring in 1981. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the Adams American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven sons, John and Kenneth, both of Adams, Dennis of Stewartville, Jim of Taopi, Loren of Rochester, Alan of Mankato and Kim of Onalaska, Wis.; three daughters, Mary (Mrs. Allan) Huntley of Taopi, Shari (Mrs. David) Heimer of Adams and Nancy (Mrs. Kevin) Seipel of Cottage Grove, Minn.; and 20 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a grandaughter, four brothers and two sisters.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, with the Rev. Virgil S. Duellman officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Adams Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 4 and 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
