Gladys McIntosh the daughter of John Robert McIntosh and Anna Beck, was born in No. Bloomfield, Ca. in 1887. She married John Calvin Le Broke, Sr. at the Reno, Nevada First Baptist Church, Christmas day in 1907. Gladys and John raised their seven children in Roseville, Ca. and Sparks, NV. John Robert, their first born son, died in infancy, at the age of two, from falling into a scolding bath tub causing severe burns, pneumonia then death. Gladys & John were devastated. Gladys was not a well woman most of her adult life, suffering from many ailments and a brain tumor. Since she was ill most of the time, and her husband out of town frequently with the railroad, the children had to take care of themselves. She was a member of the Silverstate Lodge # 117 of the auxiliary of the BLF&E. She was a kind loving mother and loved her family very much. Gladys died from complications from a brain tumor at her home in Sparks, NV in 1949 at the age of 62. She lived in Sparks for 42 years. "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were sung at her funeral by Dorothy McLeod, she was buried at the MT View Cemetery, Masonic Section, Reno, Nevada.
