Geraldine E. Hodge, age 92, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014.
She was born on February 13, 1922 in Portland the daughter of Peter and Helen (Fernholz) Gensterblum.
Geraldine was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Post #4090 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved tending to her flowers and embroidery. Geraldine enjoyed baking pies and was known for her cookies.
She retired from Meijers (Store #23) in Lansing as well as Candlewick in Portland.
She was preceded n death by her husband, Albert; parents, son, Robert; granddaughter, Kelly Jo Pline; son-in-law, James Miller; daughter-in-law, Sharon Hodge; great grandson, Jack Miller; several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her children: Gary (Barbara) Hodge, Irene Miller, William (Barbara) Hodge, Connie (Chuck) Carr, Ronald (Susan) Hodge, Linda (Douglas) Brown, Jane (Keith) Pline and Michael (Sherry) Hodge; 25 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; siblings Elizabeth Huhn, SSJ Bernita Gensterblum, Mary Louise (William) Hanses, Eleanor (Bud) Peake, Robert (Mary) Gensterblum, Delores Hauser, Barbara (Leon) Densmore and James (Louise) Gensterblum; many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. Larry King, presiding.
Rite of Committal will follow at Danby Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick School or St. Patrick Athletic Association in memory of Geraldine.
