Robert T. Kelly, a long time resident of Birmingham, died peacefully, Sunday, March 2, 2014. He was 91 years old. Mr. Kelly was born March 10, 1922, in El Reno, Oklahoma, the fifth of six children born to Pauline (nee Weber) and John Kelly.

Mr. Kelly served in the United States Navy from 1942-46 in the Asiatic-Pacific and the Philippine Liberation Campaigns, receiving an Honorable Discharge.

Mr. Kelly was active in many community activities: PTA, Boy Scouts, Birmingham City Commission, serving twice as Mayor of Birmingham, Birmingham Youth Assistance, Friends of the Baldwin Library and the Birmingham Senior Men's Club.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Mr. Kelly was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Mr. Kelly is survived by his sons, Patrick (Cindi) Kelly and James (Ann) Kelly, grandsons, Patrick, James, Ryan, and Colton, and great-grandsons, Shane and Brendan. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of over fifty years, Jean.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Thursday 3-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 10am at Holy Name Church, 630 Harmon Street, Birmingham. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to the Jean Kelly Reading Fund, Baldwin Public Library, 300 W. Merrill St, Birmingham, Michigan 48009.
