Ray Bodin of Valley City accompanied by Mrs. Ben Osterberg sang "We Would see Jesus", "How gladly I My Place Have Taken" and "Tank Naar Engang."
Burial was in the church cemetery across from the church. Pallbearers were four grandsons and two nephews: Allen Hodem, Roger Eggen, Delmar and Curtis Smedshammer and Kenneth and Ole Haugen.
Mr. Haugen was born in Rissa, Throndhjem, Norway, to Olaus and Elizabeth Haugen, and died in Valley City at Mercy Hospital July 1, 1956, at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 29 days.
At the age of 27 he embarked for America to make his home. The first two years were spent in Minneapolis. Then together with a cousin Hans Skogen he came to Litchville where they started their occupation doing mason work. Mr. Haugen has done a considerable amount of plastering on many places around the Litchville community. he did this type of work until 1919 when he with his family moved to a farm near Benson Corner and in 1923 moved to the North LaMoure Community,
He was united in marriage to Ellen Rorvig February 22, 1906. To this union nine children were born. On February 19, 19156, a golden anniversary was celebrated in their honor by the immediate families.
Surviving besides his wife are the nine children: Mrs. Martin Smedshammer (Esther), Alfred, Adolph and Harvey of Litchville, Mrs. Hrnry Hodem (Elnor) of LaMoure; Mrs. Clarence Eggen (Frances) of Grafton; Mrs. Walter Sand (Hazel) of Everett, Wash., Clifford of Fargo and Eugene of Jamestown. There are 23 grandchildren, one sister, Marie of Seattle, one brother, Hans of LaMoure and six sisters in Norway.
Oliver's Chapel was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
