Betty was 88 years of age when she passed away at her daughter's home surrounded by family.

Betty June (Miller) Maurey, 88, of Brazil, passed away on Feb. 23, 2014, at her daughter's house with her family by her side. Betty was born Aug. 31, 1925, in Linton, the daughter of the late August and Gertrude (Turpin) Miller. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1945. Betty married the late Kenneth N. Maurey on Dec. 23, 1945. Betty worked as a secretary for Clay County Surveyor for 11 years. Betty was a member for 65 years at Good Tidings Tabernacle in Brazil. In her spare time she enjoyed going to church, teaching Sunday School, being an Evangelist, singing, playing the piano and traveling, especially going on cruises. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years; brothers, Everett Ray Miller, and Dorman "Bud" Miller; sister-in-law, Kay Miller; and brother-in-law, Clyde Miller. She is survived by her children, Kenneth W. Maurey and wife Nancy of Brazil, Connie Messina and husband Jasper of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Philip Maurey and wife Michelle of Michigan, and Darlyn Jones and husband Robert of California; great-grandchildren, Alysha Maurey, Christian Maurey, Jade Jones, Remy Jones , PIper Jones, and Max Jones; siblings, Shirley Miller of Brazil, and Robert Miller and wife Roseanna of Carbon; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Service will be Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Good Tidings Tabernacle, in Brazil, with the Rev. Buddy Rigney officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Lawson-Miller Chapel from 4 until 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the Tabernacle at 12 noon until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Tidings Academy, 403 N. Hoosier St., Brazil, IN, 47834.
