WASHINGTON - Robert A. "Bob" Alexander Sr., 76, of Washington, Ill., died at 12:06 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at his home.
Born on Sept. 28, 1937, in Creve Coeur, Ill., to John Abraham and Leona Roe Alexander, he married Dianne Davidson on May 21, 1960, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2004.
He is survived by his children, Julia Alexander, Angel Tummins and Blake (Jennifer) Alexander; nine grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy), Mardel (Duane), Brandon (Emily), Robert A. III, Michael, Robert, Hope, Breanna and Blake Jr.; six great-grandchildren and three siblings, Mike, Dorothy and Danny.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert A. Alexander Jr. and several brothers and sisters.
Bob worked at Chris Hoerr and Sons and then worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed the simple things in life, loved camping all over, traveling with his wife and their family and watching TV.
Services for Bob will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory, in Washington. Pastor James Brown will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, in Washington.
