The Tennessee Death Certificate shows that Benjamin is buried in the Liberty Cemetery at Wartburg, TN. The Morgan County Cemetery records also show him being buried in Liberty Cemetery. However, no marker can be found. The grave is not marked.

World War I Draft Registration Card describes him as medium height (68"), stout build with blue eyes and dark hair.

Benjamin married Laura Layman on Sep 19, 1892 in Morgan County, Tennessee. Other than the Tennessee marriage records and the U.S. Census reports, no further information has been found on Laura. Ben and Laura were living together in 1920 as shown by the 1920 U.S. Census. However, Ben married Sarah Lee on March 29, 1923. What happened with Laura between 1920 and 1923 and after this time period has not been determined. Benjamin Byrd's obituary and the obituary of their adopted son, Gilbert, make no mention of Laura.

Sarah Lee, 2nd wife of Benjamin Franklin Byrd,was born abt. 1875 in Tennessee. They were married on March 29, 1923 in Morgan County, Tennessee.

Other than the Tennessee marriage records and the U.S. Census reports, no further information has been found regarding Sarah. Benjamin's obituary makes no mention of Sarah. On his death certificate, Benjamin is listed as widowed. This would indicate that Sarah died sometime between the 1940 U.S. Census and the time of Benjamin's death in 1950. Her date of death has not been determined.

Benjamin died at the home of his sister, Nancy Entsminger, which supports family oral history that he was single at the time of his death.
