William R. "Dott" Byrd, age 81, of Harriman, died Wednesday afternoon in a Nashville hospital. Surviving: wife Ella Jane Byrd, son Harry Byrd, Nashville; daughter Mrs. Maude Stanley, Clarksville; step sons, Leon Moore Harriman, Billy Moore, Mich.; Mrs. Deivena Beasley, Rockwood; sister, Mrs. Nancy Entsminger, Wartburg; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral 2 p.m. Friday at the Piney Baptist Church, Rev. William Moore, Rev. Johnny Golston, Rev. B. G. Painter officiating. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. ~ Dott's first marriage was to Sarah Elizabeth Wright on March 14, 1914 in Wartburg, Tennessee. They had two children, Harry and Maude. They were divorced and he later married Ella Jane McGee Moore on September 1, 1936 in Scott County, Tennessee. They had no children.
