When Glenn David Robertson Sr was born on 2 March 1896, in Spanish Fork, Utah, Utah his father, David Edward Robertson, was 26 and his mother, Rhoda Emily Snell, was 23. He married Edna Marie Luckey on 10 February 1921, in Los Angeles, California. He lived in Southside Place, Harris, Texas in 1940 with his wife, Edna, and two sons and was a petroleum engineer in the oil production industry. He registered for military service in 1918. Following the death of Edna on May 5, 1971, he married Madelyn Hyhet on March 35, 1973.

He was educated in Spanish Fork and was graduated from Brigham Young University. He received a master's degree from the University of Utah. He was a geologist, a petroleum engineer and a mining enginer working for Associated Oil Company and Shell Oil Company. He was president of Southern California American Institute of Mining Engineers.

He died on 11 May 1982, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California at the age of 86, and was buried in his hometown cemetery. He was survived by two sons, five grandchildren; four brothers and one sister.
