Mass of Christian burial for Mary Blotsky, 80, Lemmon, South Dakota, formerly of McIntosh, South Dakota, will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, McIntosh, with the Reverends Steve Biegler and Hugo Blotsky officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Marianna "Mary" Bullinger was born November 26, 1918, at Mandan. She was the oldest of 12 children born to Adam and Regina (Bender) Bullinger. Mary was raised on a farm near St. Anthony. She attended first grade at St. Anthony Sister School, and then in 1924, moved with her family to a farm north of Solen. She attended school through the sixth grade there and then her parents kept her home from school to help with the farm and raise her siblings.
On April 19, 1938, Mary was united in marriage to Peter Joseph Blotsky at the Bishop's Chapel in Bismarck. The resided in Breien for five years and then moved to Raleigh. In 1954, Peter and Mary purchased the Hilltop cafe in McIntosh, which she operated until 1977. In addition to the cafe, Mary and Peter raised their 16 children there.
Peter died October 11, 1980, and Mary continued to live in McIntosh. In 1997 she moved to an aapartment in Lemmon. She passed from this life on October 14, 1999, in the Hettinger hospital at the age of 80 years, nine months and 18 days.
Her family was her utmost priority. She was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a skilled quilter and also enjoyed cooking. She will be remembered for all her wonderful "homestyle" cooked meals.
Grateful for having shared her life are her eight daughter and sons-in-law, Irene and Albert Bachmeier, Rapid City, South Dakota, Marlene and Henry Jaszkowiak, Bismarck, Darlene and Don Sieler, McIntosh, Batty and Alvin Kraft, new Salem, Clara and Dick Goodmanson, Lemmon, Vernetta and Jake Kraft, Belle Fourche, South Dakota, Annette and Curtis Gehring, McIntosh, and Cecelia and Blaine Tishmack, Shields; eight sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin, Redfield, South Dakota, Leo and Georgia, Beulah, Ronald, McIntosh, Charlie and Maria, Sturgis, South Dakota, Gerald, Bismarck, Bill and Pat, Vale, South Dakota, David Williston, and Jeff, McIntosh; 37 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great great grandmother; four sisters, Agnes Smith Ledford, Paint Lick, Kentucky, Cecelia and John Kuntz, Mandan, Clara and Leon Lechford, Waterloo, Iowa, and Loretta and Dave Dolecheck, Sheridan, Wyoming; and four brothers, and three sisters-in-law, Adam and Nelda Bullinger, Mott, Anton Bullinger, California, Cletus and Joan Bullinger, Piper City, Illinois, and Andrew and sarah Bullinger, Torrance, California.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one ssiter, Margaret Schaner; two brothers, Nick and William Bullinger; and one great grandson, Marcus Kienzle.
