She was born Dieuwertje Hillegonds in September 1886 in a house "aan den Kanaaldijk" (at the Canal Dyke; very probably is meant the western dyke of the Noordhollandsch Kanaal, dug in 1819-1824, and then world's broadest and deepest canal) in the utter eastern part of the municipality Bergen, in the northwestern part of the Dutch western province Noord-Holland, daughter of the 25 years aged laborer Cornelis Hillegonds and IJda Kooyman, named for her maternal grandmother Dieuwertje Constant and a twin sister of Arie Hillegonds. The Kanaaldijk at Bergen, Noord-Holland, is still existing nowadays. See Google Maps.

In 1890 the family of Dieuwertje Hillegonds emigrated on the SS P. Calland to the USA.

On April 2, 1896 the family Hillegonds was residing at 345-109th Street in Chicago.

In April 1910 Dora Hillegend (23 years old, born in Holland, immigrated in 1890), her father Cornelis Hillegend (49, Holland, 1890, laborer at a foundry), mother Ida (51, Holland, 1890), siblings Harry (23, Holland, 1890, laborer at a car factory), Jan (21, Holland, 1890, drill presser at a machine shop), William Jacob (20, Holland, 1890, drill presser at a foundry), Mary (18, Illinois, servive servant at a private family), Tiena (16, Illinois) and Annie (13, Illinois), were living in a rented house at West 111th Street in Ward 33 of -south- Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

On October 25, 1911 Dora Hillegonds married in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois at the age of 24 years to John Prince, who had the same age and had Dutch parents too.

John and Dora Prince had the following children:
* Cornelius, born October 12, 1912, died March 10, 1987, Florida;
* Elizabeth Mary, b. June 5, 1914, Chicago; d. ?;
* Nickolas, b. August 25, 1918, d. April 2, 1982;
* John Jr., b. September 6, 1925; d. May 7, 2008, South Holland,Illinois.

In 1920 Dora (33), her husband John Prince (33, Illinois), their children Cornelius (7, Illinois), Elizabeth (5, Illinois) and Nicholas J (1, Illinois) lived in Ward 9 of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

In 1930 Dora (43), her husband John Prince (43), their children Cornelius (17), Elizabeth (15), Nicholas J (11) and John Jr. (5, Illinois) lived still in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

In April 1940 Dora (53), her husband John Prince (53, machinist at a lumber mill), their sons Cornelius (27, clerk), Nicholas (21, helper at a meat packer) and John (14) lived at an own home, worth $2500, in still Ward 9 of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. They lived in 1935 at the same house.

Her husband John Prince died in May 1951 in Cook County at the age of 64 years. Dora died in April 1979 at the age of 92 years in Oak Park, a village adjacent to the western side of the city of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
