Services for Bessie Ernestine McCallister, 88, of Idalou will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Gray, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the Idalou Cemetery under the direction of White Funeral Home.

McCallister died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at Autumn House in Idalou.

She was born June 30, 1910, in Purcell, Okla., and attended McClung Schools in Lubbock County. She married A.R. McCallister on Dec. 17, 1927, in Lorenzo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1989.

She moved to the Acuff area in 1927 and to Idalou in 1974. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for more than 40 years.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Ray, on Jan. 21, 1993, and a daughter, Wanda Louise, in 1930.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Leon McCallister of Idalou; a daughter, Ola Frances Lawrence of Temple; a brother, C.A. Smith of Oregon; two sisters, Essie Seagler of Lubbock and Vera Bartlett of Fresno, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
