Myron was born on June 11, 1928 in the town of Maple Grove, son of the late Walter and Laura (Wordell) Herzog. He married Vivian C. Madson on January 15, 1949. They farmed for 25 years, Myron worked at Ariens Company for 14 years, was in the artificially inseminating business for 17 years, worked part time at The Equity Livestock, and was the Constable for the town of Maple Grove for 20 years. He was a member of St. John St. James Lutheran Church, Reedsville where he was an usher and past member of their school board. Myron was also an honorary member of the Reedsville Sportsman's Club, member of the West Maple Grove Hunting Club, and was a former member of the Rockea Hunting Club. He was also a Manitowoc County Deputy Sheriff for 25 years. Myron enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing sheephead, dancing the polka with his wife, watching the Packers and the Brewers, and especially loved to spend time with his family.
Myron is survived by his wife of 65 years: Vivian; their children: one son and daughter-in-law: M. Jeffery (Barb) Herzog of Reedville; two daughters and two sons-in-law: Judy (Mel) Mangin of Cato and Jenny (Roger) Janke of Reedsville; eleven grandchildren: Wendy (Eric) Diel of Brillion, Kristin (Rick) Korstad of Reedsville, Vicky (John) Solis of Gladstone, MI, Dennis (Leah) Herzog of Reedsville, Tim (Stacey) Mangin of Whitelaw, Todd (Katy) Mangin of Cato, Jamie Mangin of Cato, Jason (fiancé Kelley McBryde) Mangin of Kimberly, Katie Mangin of Oak Creek, Lisa (Chris) Shroat of Kaukauna, and Ryan (special friend Tabitha Benter) Janke of Brillion; twelve great-grandchildren: Amanda and Josh Diel, Dakota, Taylor, Levi and Blake Korstad, Hunter and Austin Solis, Seth, Caleb and Isaac Mangin, and Gunner Shroat; one sister and two brothers-in-law: Carol (Dennis) Chouinard of Stockbridge and Larry (Joy) Madson of Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law: Jeannie Madson of Valders and Ramona Madson of Manitowoc; nieces nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother: Lina Herzog, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Palmer and Christine (Griffen) Madson; one sister and three brothers-in-law: Betty (Cyril) Serwe, James Madson, and Gordon Madson; two sisters-in-law: Betty (Ken) Petri and infant Grace Eva Madson; one nephew: James Serwe, and one niece: Kari Reinertson.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at St. John St. James Lutheran Church, Reedsville. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Timothy Nommensen. Burial will take place at a later date at Westside Cemetery, Reedsville.
