Austin William "Will" Bollich
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Austin William "Will" Bollich at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014, in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Eunice with Rev. Peter Faulk officiating. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mowata, under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014, at John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.
A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited by Rev. Chad Partain on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Kramer Chapel.
Will, 80, of Cheneyville passed away on Wednesday, February 05, 2014 in CHRISTUS Dubuis Hospital.
He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Barbara Zaunbrecher Bollich; one sister; one brother and one great grandchild Tanner.
Will was born and raised on a rice farm in Mowata, Louisiana. He started his career working in the rice industry for the LSU Rice Experiment Station in Crowley, Louisiana. He continued his career in Beaumont at the Texas A&M Experiment Station as farm supervisor. In 1969, Will moved home to Louisiana to begin his very successful 43 year career as a rice and crawfish farmer. In 1984, he was honored as the Louisiana Rice Farmer of the Year at the International Rice Festival in Crowley. In Will's spare time he was an avid hunter, and loved cooking and dancing. He was an avid LSU Fan and was very active in supporting LSU Ag Center research. Will was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 12103. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and charm.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 60 years Sylvia Stelly Bollich of Cheneyville; his children: Patrick Bollich and his wife Patricia of Baton Rouge, Emily Robison of Dallas, Texas, Jeff Bollich of Lecompte, Chris Bollich and his wife Dana of Alexandria, Scott Bollich and his wife Vicki of Baton Rouge, Katie Pierce and her husband Randy of Pineville; 20 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 6 sisters; 4 brothers along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Keith Bollich, Wesley Bollich, Aaron Bollich, John Bollich, Ryan Pierce, Austin Bollich, Gabe Pierce, and Joe Comeaux.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Connor Bollich, David Bollich, and Thomas Bollich.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in honor of Austin Bollich to the Wounded Warriors Project at P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or to the National World War II Museum in New Orleans at 945 Magazine Street New Orleans, LA 70130.
