Hilma Susanna Antintytar Kangas was the daughter of Anders (Antii) Tervaskangas and Anna Antintytar Kangas of Evijarvi, Finland. She married Victor Bjorkbacka (Beck) and was known as Hilma Kangas Beck in the USA. They married in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, USA on 28 December 1909. Hilma and Victor had 8 children (5 daughters and 3 sons).
Sadly, Victor and Hilma lived such short lives in their new country; however, the family that they left has exhibited the strength and determination for which Finns are known. Both of their sons who lived to adulthood and all of their grandsons served in the US Armed Forces. Their daughters and granddaughters have maintained strong family ties. We are blessed.
