BRADFORD - Philip J. Allen, 96, the husband of Geneva L. (Strout) Allen, died at his home Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Sept. 6, 1917, in Silver Ridge, the son of John W. and Verna A. (Greaves) Allen.

He served in the US Army in World War II for four years and then was employed at Page Lumber, Corinth, General Electric, Bangor, and drove school bus in Bradford for many years.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 72 years are his children, Elwin Allen and his wife, Donna, Michael Allen and Linda, Cheryl Strout and Gary, Lois Braley and David and Darryl Allen and Ionne; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Allen and Betty of Bradford; six sisters, Frances Douglas of New Hampshire, Nellie Norris, Dade City, Fla., Edith Haney and Wes of Corinth, Pauline Smith of Dade City, Fla., Lucille Strout of Charleston, and Eleanor Bickmore of Kenduskeag; and sisters-in-law, Priscilla Allen and Sadie Allen; plus many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Theodore, Leon, Fred, and Arnold; sisters, Lila, Mildred, and Marion; and a great-grandson, Noah. The family sends thanks to EM Hospice, especially Jessica and Deb.
