BRADFORD - Geneva L. Allen, 93, the wife of the late Philip J. Allen, died at her home on Friday, March 16, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Oct. 29, 1924, in Bradford, the daughter of Freeman and Stella Mae (Williams) Strout.
Geneva had been a member of the Girl Scouts and 4H. She had worked for Foss's Bakery and Hannaford's Bakery for several years. She had been a babysitter and a dedicated caregiver for her husband and parents in their time of need. The family recalls her memories of hitching up the horses and driving them around town, of making Christmas wreaths for her brother, and working for Civil Defense in WWII identifying planes.
Surviving are her children, Elwin Allen and his wife, Donna, Michael Allen and Linda, Cheryl Strout and Gary, Lois Braley and David, and Darryl Allen and Ionne; 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Mailman; sisters-in-law, Elaine Strout, Lucy Strout, Frances Douglas, Pauline Smith, Nellie Wade, Eleanor Bickmore, and Edith and Wes Haney. She was predeceased by Warren and Lil Strout, Rebecca and Clifton Miles, Roberta and Lester Bean, Robert Strout, and a great-grandson, Noah.
There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at the Williams Cemetery, Bradford in the spring. Arrangements are by Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth.
