Doloris Alexander Chambers, 78, of 514 Meadstown Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Albemarle Hospital. Born in Pasquotank County to the late Benjamin Franklin Alexander and Fannie Bliss Balance Alexander, she was the widow of Carlton Thomas Chambers.
Mrs. Chambers is survived by a son, Leon Chambers and wife Sandra; four daughters, Susan C. Jones and husband Glen, Debbie C. Joslin and husband Mike, Vickie C. Cox and husband Ken and Karen C. Wood and husband Jeff; eight grandchildren, Tony Jones, Laura Alvarico and husband Roger, Brian Joslin and wife Lauren, Marissa Dodgen and husband Chris, Brad Chambers and wife Samantha, Alexandra Cox and Shelby and Lucas Wood; three step-grandchildren, Nichole and Josh Wood and Stephanie Smith and husband Trey; and four great-grandchildren, Caylee and Emily Alvarico, Brooks Dodgen and Anna Joslin; One brother, Don Alexander and five sisters; Shirley Basnight, Earline Sawyer, Affie Bateman, Fannie Creef and Valna Jones.
A funeral service will take place Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friend's Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home; immediately following the service in the lobby of the funeral home; and at all other times at the residence.
