Jackie was born and grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, the second child of Harold and Ruth Redding Carson. Her older brother was George Wilfred and her younger brother was John Phillip. Her father was the band and orchestra director for a Fort Worth Independent School District high school and was the choir director at Turner Memorial Baptist Church. Her mom was a loving, caring "stay at home Mom". Jackie graduated from North Side High School, in Fort Worth.

Jackie chose a career in the banking industry, and worked there for many years. Her first marriage opened a career opportunity for her husband in Denver, Colorado. So they moved away from Fort Worth to live in Denver. Her son was born in Denver, the joy and delight of her life. This marriage ended in divorce, as she realized that her son was the only blessing in this union.

Several years later, she remarried and had a wonderful, busy, fulfilling marriage for many years, living in Montana. She, with her husband, traveled the world on his business ventures. Jackie was raised in the Baptist faith, but since her husband was of the Mormon faith, she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Sadly this marriage also ended in divorce.

Jackie chose Las Vegas as her home, for her new life. She began working again and teaching a Primary Class of children, in her church. She worked for many years with Nevada Power Company. In Las Vegas, Jackie began singing with the Desert Chorale. She began, once again, to grow spiritually, to sing and enjoy the music that she had been a part of, growing up in her musical family. She had a busy life with rehearsals and many concerts with the Nevada Symphony. She also served on the Desert Chorale's Board of Directors, as their secretary.

Jackie always expressed how thankful she was to the Lord for all of the good things in her life, her family and friends. She was blessed with her son, Derk Hunter and wife Katrina, and two granddaughters and one grandson. They were the great loves of her life.
