Mrs. Elladine Touhy, wife of R. R. Touhy, a partner in Landess-Touhy grocery store, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at a local hospital. She was 82.

Mrs. Touhy was born in Napa county, but lived in Merced for many years. She and her husband came here 24 years ago, when he and her son, the late Julian Landess, founded the store.

She was a member of the Episcopal church and had been an active worker in the Calvary Women's guild for many years. She also was a member of the Santa Cruz Woman's club and the Women of Woodcraft.

Her home was at 112 Peyton street.

Mrs. Touhy is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Stella Hendricks of Merced and Mrs. Hazel Quinn of San Francisco; a grandson, Thomas Burton Landess of Santa Cruz; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Covert, Mrs. Minnie Gilman and Mrs. Frankie Farr, all of Merced; a brother, Eugene Whealan of Merced; and three great-grandchildren, Dena Gail, Scott Julian and Richard Burton Landess of Santa Cruz.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Norman Snow and Rev. W. A. Cash Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at Wessendorf mortuary. Private inurnment will follow in the IOOF crematory.
