Mr. James William Vaughn, age 83, husband of Louise Spencer Vaughn of 414 Vaughn Rd., Union, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Mr. Vaughn was born in Union, November 9, 1930, a son of the late Paul Vaughn and Mamie Gault Vaughn Boughman. He was retired from Milliken Co., Gillespie Plant and was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War. Mr. Vaughn was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men's Club of the church. Mr. Vaughn also was a mason.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 60 years are two daughters, Doris Patterson (Doug) of Spartanburg and Debra Turner (Brian Peake) of Lugoff; three sisters, Lollie Craig (Louis), Donna Harris (Grady) and Virginia Beers all of Spartanburg; two brothers, Harold Vaughn of Jonesville and Paul "Cook" Vaughn of Union; four grandchildren: Dustin Kendrick (Hope), Matthew Turner (Renee Muringer), Heidi Kennedy(Seann) and Nick Patterson; four great-grandchildren, Jayda Kendrick, Kayla Kendrick, Savannah Bagwell and A.J. Bagwell. Mr. Vaughn was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Glenn Riblen.

Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Memorials may be to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 1622 Kelly Rd., Union, SC 29379.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, Doris and Doug Patterson, 2210 Whitestone Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
