DEATH OF MRS. GEORGE BENDER An old and highly esteemed resident, Mrs. George Bender, of Northfield, passed away on Sunday afternoon at the Cornwall General Hospital, after undergoing an operation. The deceased, whose maiden name was Nancy Ross, was born at Eamer's Corners, seventy years ago. She is survived by her husband, seven daughters and one son, Mrs. George Eamer, Oswego, N. Y.; Mrs. R. D. Allen, Cardinal; Mrs. Geo. Rupert, Finch; Mrs. Erastus Helmer, Newington; Mrs. John McCormack, Mille Roches; Mrs. Thomas Shaver, Northfield Station; Miss Lydia Bender and Mr. George G. Bender, Northfield; also three sisters and two brothers - Mrs. Best, Dakota; Mrs. Blackadder and Mrs. Phillips, Cornwall; Henry Ross, Dakota; and George Ross, Cornwall. Mrs. Bender had a kind and genial disposition, which won for her a host of friends, whose heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved family. The funeral which took place from the house, was conducted by the Rev. C. O. Carson, of Wales. The pall-bearers were Messrs. George G. Bender, Thos. Shaver, Erastus Helmer, Geo. Rupert, Geo. Markell and John Runions. St. John's Pres., Cornwall, ON Gordon Ross, Jr. & Elizabeth [again, Lily] residing in Cornwall, had a daughter born on the 24th October and baptized 11th December, 1859 - Emmy Frances. Isabella Ann Ross, daughter of Gordon Rossyes residing in the 3rd Conc. Cornwall died the 8th and buried the 10th March, 1859, aged 28 years.
