BLUEFIELD — On Saturday, March 7, 2009, June J. Bailey, 92, of Route 3 Box 658, Bluefield, W.Va., departed this life after a short battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at the home of her son surrounded by her husband and loved ones.She was born on June 4, 1916 in Bramwell, W.Va., and had been a resident of the Bluewell area for the past 70 years. June was immersed in Christian baptism at the Pine Grove Church of Christ and faithfully attended the Lorton Lick Wesleyan Church for many years. She was very appreciative of God's creation and a woman who had a tremendous love for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Franklin and Maude McBride Hill; sisters, Louise (Budy) Goodson, Mamie (Sis) Bailey, Frances (Pom) Eller, Ennice (Ency) Allen, and Charlotte (Pud) Boyd; and a brother, Clifton (Cib) Hill. She is survived by her husband of 73 plus years, Leonard H. Bailey; son, Gene F. Bailey (Judy) of Bluefield, Va.; daughter, Norma A. (Polly) Box (Ed) of Gainesville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Tammy (Keith) Abel, Suzanne (Ernie) Martin, Darin (Elana) Brown and Jeremy (Robin) Brown; seven great-grandchildren, Christopher Puckett, Brady Martin, Kelsey Brown, Alexa Brown, Jarrett Brown, Ryan Brown, Conner Brown; and three step grandchildren; brothers, Hugh L. Hill (Jean) of Gahanna, Ohio, and Lindy Hill (June) of Highland Springs, Va.Special friends and caregivers include her physician, V.R. Phade, MD as well as the employees of Total Home Care and Hospice of Bluefield, Va.Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Barry Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where Darrin Brown, Jeremy Brown, Christopher Puckett, Mike Eller, Wesley Eller, Marty Woolridge, Keith Abel, and Ernie Martin will serve as pallbearers.Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mercer County Bible in the Schools, PO Box 543, Bluefield, WV 24701.Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Bailey family.To leave personal condolences online, visit www.legacy.com
