Guy Elizabeth Buckhalter was born to Milledge Guyton and Mary Lou (Catrett) Buckhalter. She married William Andrew ("W.A.")Cleveland. They had two children-1 girl (1950) and 1 boy (1956). She was affectionately called, "Johnnie." She said it was because her Dad always wanted a boy. He had 7 children-6 girls and 1 boy. Three of the girls passed shortly after birth as did the only son. Johnnie and W.A. loved to fish, garden and spend time with family. Johnnie died after a battle with melanoma which began in her middle finger and wasn't recognized as cancer until a couple of years after it first appeared. (The appearance began under the fingernail and looked as if a car door had been slammed on it.) It was treated as a fungus for those couple of years before being diagnosed as cancer. She was a fighter. She kept going until on Saturday morning before she passed on Sunday evening. She had become so weak that she had to go back to bed. She slipped away peacefully with family around her bedside.
