Stricken by a heart attack shortly after midnight, Elizabeth Agnes Hayden, managing editor of the Calgary Herald, died at the family residence, 824 Fifteenth avenue west, at 5:30 o'clock Wednesday morning.
More than six weeks ago Mrs. Hayden was seriously ill with heart trouble but rallied and apparently was well on the way to complete recovery when seized with a fatal attack.
The late Mrs. Hayden was 54 years of age, being born at Marmora, Ontario. Twenty-five years ago she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Campion, to Calgary. In 1909 she was married to Charles A. Hayden, former Ottawa newspaperman and at that time news editor of the Calgary News Telegram. Some years ago Mr. Hayden became managing editor of the Herald,.
Mrs. Hayden was prominent in many local women's organizations during her long residence in Calgary, was a member of Knox United church and a former member of the Women's Musical Club executive. She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband, her mother, who resided with her for many years, and two sons, Sherwood of Calgary, and Reginald, attending college in Victoria.
