Mrs. C.P. Billings, long resident here
Mrs. Florence (Woodward) Billings, 82, a former longtime resident of 79 Cady St., died early Saturday evening at the North Adams Hospital, where she had been a patient one day. She was the widow of Clarence P. Billings.
Prior to entering the hospital, she had been a patient at the Rest Haven Nursing Home, Adams, for three years.
She was born in Passaic, N.J., a daughter of the late John and Sarah (Walters) Woodward, and had been a resident of the area 65 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Her husband, who was a well-known roofing contractor, died in 1946.
She leaves two sons, James W. of Clarksburg, and Clarence E. Billings of North Adams; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Chilson of this city; two sisters, Mrs. E.J. Collins of Middletown, Conn., and Mrs. Maude Rice of Briggsville; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 tomorrow afternoon at the Simmons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Paul C. Klose, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., today.
