Job was the son of John Dow and Mehitable Haines of Haverhill, Mass. He married. first 14 Feb 1760 Hannah PATTEE, b. Oct 1739, d. Atkinson, NH 7 Aug 1806, the daughter of Peter Pattee and Elizabeth Scribner. The family lived primarily in Goffstown, New Hampshire, where all of the children were born, and Job's name appears there on the 1790 and 1800 censuses. It was after then that Job and Hannah moved to Atkinson, NH, where two of Job's brothers were living. Following the death of his first wife, Job m. (2) Atkinson 25 Dec 1806 Hannah Haseltine. Job's will, dated 27 April 1809, was proved 18 Sep following. Job and first wife Hannah are buried in the Atkinson cemetery in a plot with two of Job's brothers and their wives, all of them having fine slate markers. Children, b. Goffstown, NH:

*Peter, b. 2 Feb 1761, m. (1) 12 Dec 1781 Martha Page, daughter of William Page and Martha Parker, and had six children; m. (2) in Goffstown on 25 Mar 1813 to Phebe Gault with whom he had one more child. He appears on the 1790 and 1830 censuses in Goffstown, and in 1800 in Francestown, and in 1820 in New Boston. In 1830 he was aged 60-69, with presumed wife, aged 50-59, and no one else. His second wife has a grave marker in North Salem, NH.

*Polly, b. 16 Feb 1763, m. Jonathan Gove.

*Abigail, b. 19 Feb 1765

*Hannah, b. 29 Dec 1766, m. Thaddeus Ladd.

*Mehitable, m. (1) Robert Bradford (b 1765) and had one child; m. (2) Goffstown 6 Aug 1791 William Thomas and had ten children. Late in life, Mehitable and William went to live with their son, John Thomas, in Wisconsin.

*Job, b. 23 Jun 1770, m. (1) Goffstown 22 Aug 1791 Lydia Butterfield, dau of John Butterfield and Naomi Stevens; m. (2) in Goffstown on 26 July 1796 Elizabeth Colony, and m. (3) in Vermont 21 July 1822 Lois, the widow of Moses Stewart. He was living in Atkinson in 1810, 1820, and 1840, and in the latter year was aged 60-69 with a female of the the same age and a male aged 30-39. In 1830 he was living in Waitesfield, VT.

*Abraham, b. 9 Mar 1772, d. 11 Feb 1776.

*Enoch, b. 20 Sep 1773, m. Phebe Butterfield.

*Elizabeth, b. 2 Oct 1775, m. Thomas Worthley, III.

*Phineas Kimball, b. 11 May 1777, m. Mary Gorden.

*Anna "Nancy", b. 28 Aug 1779, m. John Chaffin and moved to Maine.

*Sally, b. 17 Apr 1781, m. Jonathan Taggart; following his death, she went to live with her son in Vermont.

*Achsah, b. 11 Jan 1783, d. 5 Jan 1790.

*Nellie S., b. 11 Jan 1786, d. 27 Feb 1873, did not marry.
