Funeral rites were held Tuesday afternoon from the Winklepleck Funeral Home for Walter J. Crider, R1, Brownstown, who died Saturday evening at the Jackson county hospital.

In failing health for several years, Mr. Crider had been critically ill for the past week. The Rev. Myron Hinton, Brownstown Baptist Church pastor, was in charge of the service and interment was in the Walesboro Cemetery in Bartholomew county.

A native of Brown county, Mr. Crider was born August 16, 1878, a son of the late William Henry and Elizabeth Malloy Crider. He was married in Bartholomew county on November 23, 1915, to Opal Clark, who survives.

The family moved to the Bolles farm in the Radcliff Grove neighborhood four years ago, and during those years Mr. Crider made many friends throughout that community. Soon after moving to Brownstown, he affiliated with the Baptist church.

Surviving in addition to the widow are eight children, seven sons and one daughter. They are John Crider, Lawrence Crider, Donald Crider, Kenneth Crider, and Mrs. Dorothy Deweese, all residents of Columbus; Airman Third Class James Crider, who is stationed at Odis Air Force Base in Massachusetts; and Chester Crider and Harold Crider at home.

Eight grandchildren also survive.
