C. J. Lawler (Charles Jefferson Lawler) of Chico, Former S.C. Man, Buried Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Chase mortuary chapel for C. J. Lawler, former Santa Cruz resident, who died at Chlco last Sunday morning, Mr. Lawler was 68 years of age. During his 12 years residence here he had engaged in painting, paper hanging and interior decorating. He left here four years ago to make his home in Chico with a daughter, Mrs. Olive Miller, and her daughter. He is survived by two sons, Raymond and Leo Lawler of Watsonville; daughters, Mrs. Ina Owens Of Polsom and Mrs. Olive Miller of Chico; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Harrison of Walla Walla, Wash.; and brothers, John Lawler of Dixie, Wash., James Lawler of The Dalles, Oregon, and Sylvester Lawler of Kreewater, Oregon. Mrs. Elizabeth Lawler, nurse, of h10 Hugus Court, 'who dropped - dead late yesterday while talking with her husband and a daughter, was a victim of organic heart disease, Coroner W. R. Congdon said today.' 'J Dr. Congdon made his report following an investigation. There will be no Inquest, he stated. Mrs. Lawler was a native of Columbus, Ohio, 69 years of age. She came to this city ten years ago from Oregon. The body was removed to the Wessendorf mortuary. Funeral arrangements are pending the arrival of a daughter from Chico. Surviving her are the husband, C.J. Lawler; two sons, Raymond and Leo of Santa Cruz, and two daughters Mrs. Frank Owens (Ina Bell) of this city and Mrs. Henry Miller (Olive Mae) of Chico. Genealogy Information:
1843 - A Will of Jonathan Scott, mentions grandsons Melvin Dudley Lollar [Lawler] and his brother Robert Jefferson Lollar [Lawler]. In a latter revision to the Will of Jonathan Scott it was amended to include mention of two additional Lawler boys that being Dempsey A. Lollar [Lawler] and his brother Jonathan S. Lollar [Lawler].

It is now believed that Dempsey and Jonathan are actually not grandsons of Jonathan Scott. Rather these boys are the children of Robert Lawler and his wife Betsy Corbin-Lawler. Then, when their parents died the boys were taken by their uncle Arthur Gibbeon Lawler and his wife Elizabeth Scott-Lawler (dau. of Jonathan Scott).
